We are open Wed to Sun 10am to 5pm during April, May and June
(and Sept and Oct)
7 days in July and August
While there are audio guides we were lucky enough to get a personal guide and it was excellent. She was enthusiastc, knowledgeable, and took great care of our small group. Came away with a lot of knowledge and would recommend this attraction to anyone.
The castle is run by the local community and they have done well to preserve it. The audio tour is very informative and I now realise that my knowledge of Scottish history is very patchy! Definitely worth visiting, but wrap up as it's chilly inside.
This lovely old castle has a very interesting history you can take an audio guide but being taken round by a guide is much better even if you do have wait a bit .You are able to watch a video while you wait and have...More
There are many castles around, but this one stood out a little bit due to its location and form. If in the area stop by.
Excellent tour guide it was her 1st day back Great knowledge and interesting facts regarding the castle which was fascinating Well worth every penny
We visited this last year, but only managed the outside due to it being closed at time. Open Wed to Sun 10am to 5pm during April, May and June (and Sept and Oct) 7 days in July and August. But it was still great to...More
Braemar Castle is a gem set within the Cairngorms. Beautifully preserved and presented to the public, visitors walk through history as they visit the rooms within. I highly recommend a guided tour, especially if it is from Colin. Most of the rooms are just as...More
We did not visit the inside as it was close but the site is nice for a walk with the dog and have a view of the landscape Castle from outside is not appealing, and rather prefer ruin type but sound worth a visit if...More
Visited here with the kids. The lady giving us the tour was brilliant. Well worth the visit. Very interesting and the kids loved it too.
Interesting Castle to visit - pretty from the outside and also inside. Visited on Easter the first weekend open for summer. The lady who worked there explained they are trying to raise money to keep it open and explained that at one point all the...More
We found the castle cold inside but quite an interesting visit. Be prepared to climb stairs to see the inner rooms and the exhibits. Well worth a visit if you are visiting Braemar.
We could've not picked a more beautiful venue for our wedding ceremony. The people who look after Braemar Castle are absolutely lovely! Georgina helped us with everything from the beginning and Colin was there during our special day to make sure everything ran smoothly. We...More
End of October close means just that, Closed for the Season ! We came thru on the 1st November but got to look at it externally only , pity but a funny looking Castle I thought ? Maybe next visit ?
We took the audio tour or this well preserved castle and thoroughly enjoyed it. Although the history of the castle goes back to the Bonny Prince's time, the castle is set up to depict the early to mid 20th century. Very well laid out and...More
Being members of the NTS we are a bit mean when it comes to having to pay to visit an independent attraction. However, at £8 pp for adults £7 concession we thought it could be good value and we were not disappointed. Parking is a...More
My wife and I stopped and toured this local, community-owned and managed castle right outside of Braemar. I recommend it highly as it helps support the local economy and has a very interesting history. It also is nearly fully accessible for tour and has a...More
"The tennis court just a sponge. I couldn’t even pretend to play on it" 1914 letter written by Princess Alexis Dolgorouki to the factor. Today, this tennis court is just an outline of its former glory (or perhaps not!). #castle #history #women #scotland #russia https://t.co/hROtgRACTV
