  •   The castle is rich with history, many rooms furnished, guided tour is well done. A nominal admission fee is collected for the guided tour and used toward restoring the castle.

This castle is in the process of being restored externally. The castle is however furnished and therefore interesting. It has an important place in local history. Guided tour was very informative and enjoyable (although of course different guides will give different experiences).

Driving from Dinnet through to Braemar, we came across this fascinating castle, which has rather a lot of history behind it - as you will see from the pictures below.

  •   The staff are very knowledgeable, all volunteers, you pay a small amount to get in which includes a tour 👍. Really interesting lots to see, and discuss with the staff. Free parking. We will revisit this year should the opportunity arise. There are toilets onsite.

Braemar, in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, is the place to come to see our iconic red squirrels. Great pics from Sarah at Cranford.
