  •   We were lucky enough to visit when the local primary school children were acting as guides. It was great to see such enthusiasm about their local history in such a wonderful place

Interesting small castle (fortified house) with a long history. Good (free) audio guide and helpful volunteer staff.

  •   While there are audio guides we were lucky enough to get a personal guide and it was excellent. She was enthusiastc, knowledgeable, and took great care of our small group. Came away with a lot of knowledge and would recommend this attraction to anyone.

This is a magnificent castle. When I think of a castle this is what I think of. It was used in modern times so lovely to see how someone lived here.

  •   The castle is run by the local community and they have done well to preserve it. The audio tour is very informative and I now realise that my knowledge of Scottish history is very patchy! Definitely worth visiting, but wrap up as it's chilly inside.

  •   There are many castles around, but this one stood out a little bit due to its location and form. If in the area stop by.

We visited in September 2017 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The castle is well presented by a group of local volunteers. You can learn a lot about the history of the area, and the people who lived in and visited the castle.

  •   We found the castle cold inside but quite an interesting visit. Be prepared to climb stairs to see the inner rooms and the exhibits. Well worth a visit if you are visiting Braemar.

We could've not picked a more beautiful venue for our wedding ceremony. The people who look after Braemar Castle are absolutely lovely! Georgina helped us with everything from the beginning and Colin was there during our special day to make sure everything ran smoothly. We...More
