“Alan Breck’s Regiment” re-enactment Society.  Jacobites and Redcoats in Braemar – again!

APRIL

Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th April 2018

Meet the soldiers of the last Jacobite Rising as rival detachments arrive in the grounds of Braemar Castle. See them training and preparing for battle, and witness sharp skirmishes as their pickets clash!

They first battled here in the grounds of the Castle 1689 leaving the Castle alight.  The Redcoats moved into the Castle in 1748 to make sure there would be no more trouble after the Jacobite defeat at the Battle of Culloden.  It was 1826 before they finally left – and they’re back!

This is the Alan Breck’s regimental training weekend, which means there is not a detailed public schedule, but you are nevertheless welcome to visit us as part of your visit the castle, talk to the soldiers and civilians of 1745, and watch our activities.
