Hear stories of the colourful characters associated with the castle, find out how Clan Farquharson began and discover the part played by Braemar Castle in the story of Scotland. Only 9 miles from Balmoral Castle, take time to visit both and enjoy the different experience each has to offer. The castles are situated in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, on the Victorian Heritage and Castle Trails, amid spectacular mountain scenery. Enjoy walking, cycling, climbing and fishing or a round of golf at Scotland's highest course. Look out for red deer, red squirrels, golden eagles and, if you’re very lucky, the elusive capercaillie.
