We visited in Mid september. It was like stepping back in time. The castle is bursting with history and the community custodians are helpful and friendly. There is a really good audio guide aswell. Well recommended!!
If you have time to spare you could stop like we did but I wouldn't return. Compared to other castles it has little to offer and is less spectacular.

The city of the Highland games is a small town with very fresh air and during the inter season no too far from the Scottish Ski areas.
